Shades of Gray

Shades of Gray

As fall creeps in this moonless night
Bright colors dim to shades of gray
My thoughts are thin
My heart can't stay
Within the confines of this day.

Reflection peeks upon my soul
Of days long gone, and
Souls once known.
I seek to find the one whose touch
Made parts of me as hard as stone,
And others soft as brittle bone.

I hide sometimes, behind this smile
Seeking knowledge--thoughts a pile
Rich emotion in your gaze, your words, your thoughts, your style.
Sit with me, we'll talk a while,
And ponder shades of gray.

Beautiful poem, Sharon! Are you writing poetry? You are a woman of many artistic talents!

Yep..that's me...artistically well rounded...lol. I've written poetry off and on for years...nothing big-just thoughts that hit me sometimes. Today's just one of those days, I guess. Did you ever just have a day when your past sneaks up on you and just starts poking at your head? I put that stupid moon phase calendar up there so I can chart my wacky moods by it. I swear I'm overly influenced by its phases. I'm nuts. Commit me now.

The poem is very nice, Sharon. I feel the mood in it so easily. Pretty picture too.
