New Lamps

OK, so that's not a lamp. It's fabric swatches. I'm thinking of slipcovering my sofa in the top one. It's a light chocolatey brown that will hide a multitude of sins. I hope. I can't take the state of the gold damask any more. ANYthing else has got to be an improvement. I'll keep y'all posted.
New lamp #1. I purchased this lamp at The Christmas Tree Shops in Albany. It was the last one they had, so I only got one, and it was a bargain at $25. I love the glass base. I'm NOT in love with the white white shade though. I'm thinking of putting a grosgrain ribbon along the top and bottom edge to give it some interest. We'll see. It also has one of those fluorescent bulbs in it, which is pretty white. I may have to go incandescent to get a better color out of it.

This is lamp #2. I paid $40 for it at KMart, and I love it! I honestly have not been in KMart for years, except for two weeks ago when I bought the Martha Stewart curtain rods. I forget why I went back, but when I did I found this lamp! The base is metal, with a dark almost black finish. Me likey!

I love them both and I think grograin ribbon is just the thing to make that white shade pop!

I love them both too! (Is that a MS lamp?..I'm still waiting for her to buy Kmart) I just love what you're doing to your new home-meant to comment on your garden wall too..love it, love it, love it!

Oooooh nice scores Sharona! I think the gg ribbon will be a perfect touch. You could also wrap it in a pale linen with the gg ribbon...but, like you said...a warmer bulb (I love those pink ones) may just do the trick for you!

Is your fabric linen or duck? The chocolate brown WILL cover a multitude of sins...Great choice!

Suz, Kathleen has informed me that we got the lamp at WalMart. I think I have Alzheimers. Oy.

Linda, the couch fabric is actually chenille...so it's nice and soft as well as stain-hiding! Gotta love it! Wait until you see the discontinued fern fabric I bought yesterday for pillows. It's too cool for school. I'm off to IKEA this morning to get some new countertops and probably a sink and some cabinet hardware. Yay! BF is going to try to get the dishwasher installed while we're gone. I'm glad I won't be around for that one! Ha!

Oh, I love your new lamps too. Esp. that 2nd one from K-mart, how about that? The shade reminds me of a couple I have that I got from Joann's, but they are more linen type fabric.

I just did a post about monogramming lampshades & I'm getting all into that now.

Finding a just-right lamp can be a challenge - and you lucked out and found two! I like the shape and texture of the white shade; I think a bit of "something" will help ground the clear glass and all-white look more. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Fantastic shade on #2!

Ooh, I love your lamps. What great deals! Grosgrain ribbon will really add to the first shade. Love the fabric on the second shade. Hmmm.... I'm needing a couple of lamps for the living room. I might have to go check those out at WalMart.
