Resolutions are for Suckers....

...but that's not going to keep me from thinking "outside the box" this year (unlike Tess, who is INSIDE the box every chance she gets).

My primary resolution is to make more money this year.  This will entail many secondary and tertiary resolutions, which I will be sharing with you forthwith:
  • Less time on the computer, more time working
  • Follow-through, follow-through, follow-through (can you tell I'm bad at follow-through?
  • Diversify--this means that I have some new directions I'd like to explore this year, the first of which is spending more time learning web design.  I think this could be a lucrative side business for me.  (Of course, this may negate some of my good intentions with number one, but whatev.)
  • Purge.  This should probably have been number one on the list, but we all know it now--I'm disorganized.  Come spring, my plan is to clean out that garage.  BF would love to put his boat in there, so he can work on it and not have to worry about the elements.  In order to do that, however, I will have to get rid of a bunch of stuff that got moved here in April, but for which I no longer have a use.   So...can you say GARAGE SALE?  I hate having garage sales, but it's got to be done.
  • I'm also going to make a list of house projects I'd like to complete this year, time and money permitting.  That'll have to be a separate post, or maybe even a list on my sidebar, so I can hold myself accountable for actually getting stuff done.
Well, that's it for now.  I have lots of ideas swimming around in my head, and I need to write out lists, and lists of goals and whatnot.  I feel like now that I have this house, that I can concentrate on something other than the constant urge I was having to OWN a house over the last 10 years or so.  I'm here, now, and it's time to focus on the future.

Happy New Year, and may all your resolutions come true.  :)

I can't believe I just wrote a huge ass reply with specifics on each one and freaking Blogger just ate it!

SUffice it to say I think all your ideas are fantastic. I would only suggest that now you drill down on each one to set specific actionalable steps/timelines/milestones that support you accomplishing each one. A roadmap.

And yes, purge first to have that great clean slate on which to build from.

And a vision board!

Ooooh Amber is on to something...Now can you repeat it, with pictures, for the organizationally challenged among us. (raising hand)

Good work Sharon...Yes, clean out first (it'll clea mind and space space...and bring in some bucks) Give a bit away too (for good Karma...)

Happy, sparkling 2009!

Thanks, guys. Hey Amber...I love it when you have words of wisdom for me. You sure you don't want to re-write what got lost and send it along? You've got nothing better to do, right? I mean, your kids don't dirty their clothes, and you don't have dog hair to sweep up or anything, or consulting to do, right? Prettty Pleeeeease? :)

Sharon, I with ya, sistah. You have come a long way since we first met on GI years ago, and I love the direction you're going. As for web design, keep us posted. I may just want to beef up my blog one day. :-)

Yup, each resolution requires specific actions to be taken. I, too, spend too much time on the computer, especially considering that's my job! You'd think I'd want to get away from it. It's a time-suck, I tell ya. Need to get my house projects done (finish bathroom wallpaper removal, paint the office ...), need to release stuff (some to be posted on Craigslist, some to be posted on Freecycle, which I've found is the BEST way to release something quickly and easily). Make a list of actions and give yourself a timeline. My mantra right now is DO IT NOW. So I need to go and get something done and get off the 'puter - lol!

Tess looks sooooo content, doesn't she?

Happy New Year, Sharon! That sure is a cute kitty. Don't we all think about getting organized & purging this time of year. I usually get some of it done & it lasts until this time next year!

I love your new header, too. How'd you get your background changed?

I wish I could be better at #1 on your list! That is my downfall. Good luck!
