Is it just me, or is 7th grade a little young for a semi-formal? Oh well. Kathleen was really looking forward to it, and she looked absolutely gorgeous tonight. After I gave her a manicure and curled her hair I said "Kathleen, I just can't believe how beautiful you are!" I know she's my kid and all, but WOW, she's as sweet as the day is long, and just oh so pretty. I made her dress for her, which she really loved. She said "The best thing about you making my dress, Mom, is that noone is going to have one like it!"
We designed it together, and somehow I constructed the thing. Don't ask me how. And don't look too closely. But if you blur your eyes, it looks pretty darn good! Hee! Let me tell you, there is NOTHING like silk charmeuse. Everyone should own a silk charmeuse garment. It feels divine. I may make myself a cami out of the leftovers. It's such a great color. She even planned ahead and had the orthodontist put blue bands on her braces so they'd match her dress! He thought that was pretty clever.
She's at the dance now. I had my first "slow dance" with a boy when I was in 7th grade at the very same school. I can't believe she's there right now, maybe having her own first dance with a boy. *Sigh* Where does the time go?
This last shot, I told the girls I was going to take three "America's Best Top Model" pictures, and I just counted out loud "ONE"....click......"TWO"....click.....you get the idea...and this is what they came up with. Kathleen's been watching WAY too much of that show if you ask me...lol.

I really enjoyed seeing this post Sharon! You did a great job on the dress! And Kathleen is gorgeous!
I love all the photos. I can't count how many pictures I have of Xanti "posing". They are among my favorite photos of her! Miss Gabi has already begun the same thing! So much fun!

Is Kathleen just simply beautiful or what? That sweet lovely face shines with her clear and beautiful inner spirit. Does your mama heart just leap with joy when you see her? I know mine does with my own DD. Lovely dress and gorgeous color on K. I hope she and her friends had a wonderful time! (Amazing that she goes to the same school that you did. :-) )
What wonderful photos, Sharon! Love the montage with the BFFs! Kathleen is STUNNING! The dress is amazing...I'd love something like that! The color is great on her. She just looks so fresh and well...YOUNG and PRETTY! :-) Dammit, to have skin like that again! (Did I ever have skin that nice? Not sure!)
Did they have a good time?!
I remember a slow dance with a boy in 7th grade very well myself. I probably shouldn't write this, but it was the first time I felt a "rocket in the pocket" if you know what I mean! hee! His name was Glenn. Glenn was nice and later gave me flowers at my birthday party, but I was pretty freaked out by that experience! Okay...TMI..yikes...Don't let Kathleen read this! ;-)
I am a 6th grade teacher, and, yes, 7th grade is young for a semi-formal, but from the pictures it looks like Kathleen and her friends have a good handle on it. Having fun with their girlfriend group is what it should all be about at this age! Love the dress you made, too!
I just found your blog and I love it. I hope you don't mind me coming back more often, I would like to add you to my blogroll if you don't care. I love the dress. And I like how the 3 girls are color coordinated. Did they plan that?
Oops, now I see the one dress looks purple. Okay, so 2 of the girls are color coordinated. Have a great week.
