Good Night, Moon

As I was headed to the movies tonight (saw "Jumper"--it was good!), the moon was rising, and looked large and luminous. I had to stop at the end of my street and take a picture. THEN, as I was driving home, the eclipse was taking place, so I pulled over and shut off my lights. It was beautiful. Out of the 20 or so pictures I took, the one below is the best I got. I was wishing I had my tripod with me. This one was taken with the camera propped on the top of my car.
Seeing the moon like this reminds me of summers as a teen, when I'd lay out in the grass with my boyfriend, and we'd just stare up at the moon and talk for hours. He knew a lot more about the constellations than I did, too. When I think about it too hard, it makes me realize how small we all are. If I can make an imprint on one person's life, just half the size of the moon's imprint on me, I'll call it good.
Good night, Moon.

What a profound post, Sharon...seriously! You summed it up so eloquently.

And by the way....you suck! I tried taking several photos here and none of mine came out well at all. I could even see flashes going off in a neighbor's yard...he must've been trying too! You captured some GORGEOUS shots! I will have to show them to Mike and the kids tomorrow!

No pictures, but I saw it last night too. What a world. :-) Great shots Sharon and meet me back here in 2010 for the next one. ;-)

I tried to take some photos, none as pretty as yours! We were watching from our room. We'd watch from the window, then lower the upper section of the window, so I could take a photo, bbbrrr. Then I'd run over and jump in bed, warm my feet, under Miss Molly, then repeat the process! It was absolutely amazing. We had a gorgeous crystal clear night!

Wow! One night this week ~ I woke to the moonlight pouring down on me from our skylight ~ brighter and stronger than I 've ever seen ~ or felt before! I fell back to sleep ~ covered in this wonderful warm moonlight. It is a wonderful piece of heaven ~ isn't it?

I missed it, too, due to work. (Spoils all my fun.) Your pics are outstanding. I remember just sitting outside watching the moon, too. That was when there weren't 1000 channels on TV, no computers, cell phones, etc., back in the time when people actually engaged with one another IRL ... and didn't use acronyms like "IRL" - lol! So glad you shared these! Thanks, Sharon.
